Landscape Design Brisbane - Room Landscaping
Landscape designs Brisbane has changed so much in the last 10 years. Today our homes are larger, our land is often smaller, and we want so much more from our homes than in years gone by. Landscape designs need to consider not only how we use our outdoor spaces, they also need to provide a link with our homes, creating lifestyles and the opportunity to live beyond the walls our homes create. The boundaries of good landscaping designs run to our properties boundaries and sometimes beyond, creating additional rooms, resort style living and landscapes that enhance our lifestyles. A good landscape designer will consider how you want to use your property, creating a unique landscaping design that will enhance not only your home, but will borrow from it blurring the lines between home and garden. They will also consider the practical and important aspects such as your sites orientation, weather patterns and factor in the elements of design as they create your unique landscape design.
So how does ROOM Landscape Design & Construction create a unique and individual landscape design for you?
1. Initial Consultation/Create the Landscape design brief
Each landscape design is considered to be different and should not follow the same cookie cutter pattern – one size fits all. We start by listening to you and finding out how you want to use your landscape. Will it be to entertain, relax, raise your family, build a lifestyle, or create memories? We will spend a great deal of time asking for your thoughts and opinions, feelings and likes or even your dislikes. This helps us create what we call is a Landscape Design Brief. You can consider this brief as a checklist, or list of all of the considerations we must make in creating your landscape design. This is our working list. Once we have created this design brief from our initial consultation, we will send it to you to consider and ensure that we have not left out anything that is important. We will also attach to the design brief a fee proposal for our services.
2. Base plan development
Once you have accepted the design brief a site survey is conducted. We measure not only the site, your home and take levels, but we also assess your sites weather patterns, the orientation of the site and where North lies. We also look for services, electricity, telephone, gas lines, stormwater and all other services connected to your home. We perform a dial before you dig to determine where your site connects to these services. We will also take lots of photos to use later in the design process. From this survey we develop a base plan that will indicate where your home lies on your land, any major buildings such as sheds and swimming pools, and overall indicate where all services and amenities are on your property. All plans are drawn in Cad allowing for plans to be developed adjusted and changed quickly.
3. Overlays, form development and concept plan development
This stage of the Landscape Design is by far the largest portion of the landscape design process. It is at this stage that we overlay weather patterns, indicating where the sun rises and falls, where the majority of the winds come from in summer and winter and where you can expect the worst storms and rain to come from. This is important in planning the location of spaces or forms within the design, how they will interact with the home, how they are affected by weather patterns and how to overcome these issues. Once forms or spaces are created for specific purposes IE swimming pools, entertaining decks etc, the development of the concept plan can start. A concept plan provides enough detail to understand the intent of the design so we can communicate ideas and suggestions from the plan to you at the concept plan presentation.
4. Design development and plan completion
Once we have presented you with the landscape design we will provide you with the time to consider our proposal. If you have questions or would like to make changes we consider and make them at this stge. We then depending on the level of your landscape design package develop additional drawings and details such as construction specification and plans, planting specification and plans as well as detailed plant selection, section and detail plans. Once the landscape design is completed we present the final package to you.
As each design is unique and individual and as your requirements are also individual some aspects of this design process may be added to or modified to ensure your Landscape design answers all of your needs.
